Laura and Alan at the Watermill

Laura and Alan chose to get married on a gorgeous bright summers day at the Watermill Hotel and were blessed with a beautiful blue sky which really helped set off the red brick of the mill in the background. The Clarks Anchor Mills in Paisley is justifiably an iconic building. A thread mill dating from the early 19th century it lay derelict and unused for many years. Thankfully it in now renovated and converted like may of the surrounding mill buildings in the area. These fantastic historic buildings now provide spaces for people to live and work in, and provide stunning architectural backdrops for photographers.

Laura and Alan were a lovely couple who really enjoyed their day and they were happy to take advantage of the lovely sunshine and spend time outside for their photographs. It was a pleasure to be a part of it and as always, the Watermill Hotel were excellent hosts with Sue moving things on swiftly and efficiently when we were done.

Alan an Laura I hope you enjoy these 2 taster images, while you wait for the rest.

Stephanie - Cherish the Dress in Paisley

What a fabulous day out in Paisley with Stephanie today when she wore her dress again for us to take more stunning images of her in a different location.

Scotland is beautiful in spring time and Paisley has some striking historic locations. We were so lucky to have an opportunity to bring together a great model, warm weather and iconic venues.

We love working with brides on their wedding day, but when you come back for more images shot in a different environment, we know that we have made a connection and it allows us  to be creative and shoot images in a fun relaxing atmosphere to get the best out of you.

We believe this shows in the images that we create.

Carolanne & David, Dalmeny Park Country House Hotel

Carolanne and David had a lovely wedding ceremony in the Drawing room at the Dalmeny Park Hotel which included a sand ceremony. A sand ceremony is where the bride and groom take turns to fill a vase with different colour sand, thereby symbolising the joining together of two people, mixing and entertwining into one, forever. Each Bride and Groom create their own pattern of sand using the colours of their choice and producing a beautiful vase of colour for display in their home and as a memory of their union and this wonderful day.

Despite the cold wind, the weather was beautiful and sun shone, so we did get some fabulous images in the extensive grounds of Dalmeny Park Hotel. Carolanne and David were such a happy couple and I didnt see them stop smiling and laughing the whole day.

Here are a few special photos from their day for you to enjoy.

Laura & Alan, Eastwood House, Saturday 5 March 2011

I photographed Laura's sister Emma's wedding at Eastwood House some 18 months ago. To be asked back to the same venue to photograph Laura was a compliment, it was lovely to meet up with the families again and even to recognise guests, it made us feel so part of the day. But, photographing a sister at the same venue brings with it its own pressures, such as providing Laura & Alan with photographs which reflect their individuality and depict the atmosphere that made their day special, without replicating shots from Emma and Gary's day.

I didn't need to worry, although the venue was the same and Emma was Laura's bridesmaid this time, both weddings were delightfully unique and reflected the personalities of each couple. Eastwood House and the grounds are beautiful in September but look quite different now in March and I have to say, it's a beautiful venue any time of the year with photographic opportunities both inside and out!

Laura and Alan were completely relaxed having great fun on their very special day as you can see when Alan corked a bottle of champagne to celebrate.

I hope you enjoy these 2 taster images!

Model shoot at the new Ballroom, the Watermill Hotel, Paisley

I am so pleased to be involved with this project at the Watermill Hotel in Paisley. The team are fabulous to work with, and the space is just so good to photograph in. Not only is the Watermill such a piece of history and tradition in its own right, but it is almost next door to iconic buildings like the Anchor Mill and, of course, Paisley Abbey. But the great thing is that the new addition, the Ballroom, is so modern, so full of light, such a stunning piece of architecture, yet it doesn't clash with its surroundings. I love it, and I know that there are going to be a lot of very happy couples getting married or holding their reception there.

The way the Watermill Hotel Ballroom has been constructed means that the light floods in. We shot these images on the 19th of December, 2 days before the shortest day, and at one stage there was a blizzard outside, yet the light is still fabulous. I was very fortunate to have Laura and John to model for me - thanks guys you did a great job! Laura looked stunning in her gown supplied by Elaine of  Wedding Wise in Barrhead. Elaine has a great selection of Wedding Gowns and Bridesmaids dresses and is well worth a look if you are out shopping for your wedding day.

The Watermill Ballroom is a modern contemporary space in a historic setting, I look forward to doing lots more work here. I hope you like the images, I think they really reflect the characer of the Ballroom.
