A Cold Winter Morning

The winter has been an interesting time for me to update my portfolio, experiment with my photography and extend the network of people that I work with.

Here are two images shot in the West End of Glasgow early one morning. Definitely made a dull winters day a lot more interesting.

Fine Art Photography - Glasgow, City at Night, City of Light

Well, a very short autumn and straight into winter it seems!!  Despite the wild and unpredictable weather conditions, we have still managed a few outdoor shoots. Last weekend we completed a fabulous shoot in Glasgow with our 2 models Lisa and Martyn.

Glasgow as a photographic venue is fantastic, and we combined two of the City's best known features - architecture and shopping - to create some wonderful Fine Art Prints. The lights in and around Royal Exchange Square and Buchanan Street gave stunning backgrounds and a variety of rich colour, and the amosphere really comes through.

These images and others will soon be made available to purchase as prints, wall hangings and greeting cards, but if you are a bit braver why not commission your own Fine Art Image, with YOU and your favourite people in the picture?

I look forward to hearing from you with your imaginative ideas.

Joan & Tony

Joan and Tony were blessed with a cold and clear, but sunny Scottish autumn day on Saturday when they were married in Inchinnan Church before heading off towards Loch Lomond. By the time we got to  The Culag on Loch Lomond the sun had spread its last rays across the shoulder of Ben Lomond, just begging to be photographed. What a gorgeous backdrop for a beautiful couple.

The Culag is a superb venue with stunning views both up and down the Loch and Patrick is a wonderful host. The Culag is also the refueling station for the Seaplane and we were lucky enough to be there when it flew in. An experience that provided us even more opportunities for fantastic photographs.

I am always aware of the priviledge it is, to be part of someones wedding day, but feel even more honoured when the occassion is such a small and intimate family affair. Thank you Joan and Tony, I do hope that you enjoy these 2 images as a taster while you wait for the rest.

Fine Art Photography at The Living Room in Glasgow

I had a wonderful shoot yesterday at The Living Room in Glasgow building my portfolio of Fine Art Images, or Wall Art to invisage yourself in - "put yourself in the picture"! A wonderful gift to your partner, friend or parent. Choose a location or suggest an image and let me "Put you into the picture". More images and ideas coming soon!!

The Living Room is a contemporary restaurant and piano bar located in St Vincents St in Glasgow. This restaurant is known for its great food and hospitality and served as a great location for my Fine Art Images, not to mention, the superb lunch, the best chicken and avocado sandwich I've ever had!!

Amy, the restaurant manager, both a wonderful hostess and model, did a wonderful job, as did JJ and Martyn in helping to produce these images. We had great fun creating and ideas were coming from all sides. I especially like the image of Amy smoking the cigar at the bar.....thanks guys for the ideas and for all your help, it was great working with you!!

Not forgetting those that work on the sidelines; Thank you to Lorna McMurray from Bellami Make-up and beauty for Amy's gorgeous make-up.

Claire & Martin - The Watermill Hotel

Claire and Martin had spent time living and working in New Zealand before coming back to Scotland and so when it was time to get married, their many friends came from both around the corner and from the other side of the world to share their happy day with them.

And such a happy day it was, starting with a very beautiful ceremony by Andy and then on to the Watermill Hotel for their reception.....nobody was going to let the Scottish wet weather (okay, okay, I really tried not to mention the weather!!) spoil their happy day.

The Watermill Hotel is a beautiful historic building that has a spacious ballroom extension that looked just exquisite set out for the evening meal. The staff at the Watermill, as always, made everyone feel welcome and Marion was the perfect hostess, making sure that we had what we needed to capture Claire and Martin's special day.

Claire and Martin, I hope that you enjoy your honeymoon and these 2 taster images from your special day. See you when you get back.

Gemma & Mark - The Lynnhurst

Gemma and Mark had a wonderfully happy wedding day starting with their ceremony in Erskine and then finishing off their celebrations with family and friends at the Lynnhurst in Johnstone.

How lovely to see a couple who have been together since school, had many years and experiences together and still so in love, they were truly meant to be. Gemma looked gorgeous and Mark stood tall by her side, proud to be her husband and father of their two beautiful children.

Gemma and Mark, I hope that you enjoy these 2 taster images.

Wai-la and Steven - Cherish the Dress!

I couldn't wait to share some of Wai-la and Steven's photographs taken 2 weeks after their wedding day.

We had a fun and fabulous day starting back at their wedding venue, The Cruin, then on to Luss  and finishing in Glasgow before Wai-la and Steven went on to enjoy their evening. A whirlwind photoshoot, but what beautiful images we have ended up with.

Wai-la and Steven, our day out was well worth the additional effort, you have ended up with some stunning images that compliment your wedding day images and some memories to last you a lifetime!

Enjoy these few images, the rest are coming soon!

Elaine and Paul - St Aloysuis and the Beardmore Hotel

A mixed weather day for Elaine and Paul on the 17th of September but a very happy day nonetheless. Paul was beaming from the time that Elaine walked down the aisle looking just so beautiful. The couple truly looked so happy together.

The bridal party colours were stunning and really seemed to  light up this typically Scottish cloudy day.

Elaine and Paul took some time at the end of their meal to take a few more photos in a slightly more relaxed environment. Elaine I hope that this image under the lamp post will convince you that missing out on your after dinner coffee was well worth it.

Enjoy these 2 taster images.

Alan & Lauren - A Perfect Day

Yet another interesting project in September; Alan and Laurens Marryoke.

Alan and Lauren got married in Rome with a few close friends and family, a week later they celebrated in Glasgow sharing their celebrations with those that couldn't make it to Rome and again with those that did. To make their evening even more fun, they decided to involve their guests in a Marryoke - the recording of "A Perfect Day"... and what fun it was...

Enjoy!!

Party Rock Anthem - Gary & Donna

I have had so many interesting projects this September and Gary and Donna's Marryoke was just one of them. Gary and Donna, their guests and bridal party all made an effort to take part in Gary and Donna's special Party Rock Anthem video.

I really enjoyed putting this together and hope you enjoy viewing!

Wai-la & Steven - The Cruin, Loch Lomond

What a wet and windy, but incredibly enjoyable day for Wai-la and Stephen. Starting from early in the morning where, amongst other fun and games, Stephen serenaded Wai-la with love poems and song from below her bedroom window before he was finally allowed in to the house to meet her and her family for their traditional tea ceremony.

Afterwards, we went on to The Cruin at Loch Lomond where Wai-la and Stephen had a beautiful wedding ceremony, lighting 3 candles to celebrate their union and then being showered by confetti as they walked back down the aisle.

With the weather as wild as it was, we made what we could of outside photographs but, of course, indoor photographs was the main order of the day. Thank you to Lorna and her event management team who were extremely helpful and supportive of our needs, moving furniture and tidying up after more confetti was spread across the floor!!

The couple finished with a beautiful choreographed first dance which was enjoyed and appreciated by all their guests.

Wai-la and Stephen, here are just a few of the images that I hope will capture the essence of your wonderful day.

Donna & Gary - Lochside House Hotel

Donna and Gary had a wonderful day celebrating their wedding with friends and family at the Lochside House Hotel. Lynne, Donna's twin sister, brought a very personal touch to their wedding day by being both the Celebrant and a bridesmaid. Another personal touch was brought to their wedding by Ashley, a friend and guest who sang so beautifully during their ceremony.

The Lochside House Hotel is a fabulous wedding venue, a lovely building with a Lautner feel to the architecture. Neil & Simon were impeccable hosts who really understand what is required to make a wedding day run smoothly. They gave us and the wedding party first class treatment, helping us to do our job well and finishing on time. A big thank you to Simon, Neil and the event staff for their support on Donna & Gary's wedding day.

The couple took 10 minutes get a few pictures in the evening sunshine outside after their meal. Donna and Gary, I hope this image brings back all the good memories of your special day.

Angela & Thomas

Another wonderful day out with Angela & Thomas on their wedding day. So many friends arriving to the chapel to wish the couple well and to see Angela. Angela arrived on time looking relaxed and beautiful in her wedding dress accented with stunning hand made silver jewellery, designed by Angela and created by her very artistic sister in law.

After the ceremony we took advantage of the dry weather to get some photos in the outdoors. The black and white colours of the bridal party really looked smart against the front door of the Mariners Home, where everyone took a moment to relax and sip champagne.

We finished off back at the couples reception venue to see all the work that had gone into the beautiful table decor, cakes and favours; all hand made. There was also a sweety table especially for the children and those sweet toothed adults.

What a wonderful day; Angela and Tommy, I hope you enjoyed the rest of your wedding day and enjoy these 3 images while you wait for the rest.

Chantal & Armand

What a beautiful day for Chantal and Armand who had a small intimate celebration of their wedding, starting at Paisley registry office. A stunning couple indeed, who pulled out all the stops for their special day, even down to the weather, which, although threatened rain all day, stayed warm and dry and finished the day with a magnificent blue sky scattered with some wispy white clouds.

I love photographing in Paisley, and although we spent a short while making the most of the architecture there, we moved on to another stunning location that Chantal and Armand had chosen for their reception; Sherbrooke Castle.

Sherbrooke Castle is a great venue for an evening reception, and on days like this, it really looks beautiful against the evening sky, complimenting Charmaine and Armands evening outfits.

Enjoy these few taster images of your day.

Joanne and Lee - Moorpark House Hotel

Joanne and Lee had a gorgeous summer wedding day at Moorpark House Hotel. Their bridal party colours matched the clear blue sky that created the perfect backdrop to the Manor house, they couldn't have chosen a better day for a wedding. Their guests took the opportunity to enjoy the sunshine while we went about our work.

There are many lovely photos from Lee and Joannes day but I just had to share this first photo with you, that not only shows off how stunning Joanne and Lee looked on their special day, but also shows their fabulous wedding car and a beautiful venue. The flower girls and page boy standing on the side, were like the icing on a cake for this photograph...aren't they just so cute!

Joanne and Lee, I hope that you enjoy these 2 taster images of your day.

Karen and Jon - Burnhouse

Karen looked stuning in her classical style wedding dress made of soft flowing satin that complimented her own character and grace, leaving everyone with no doubt that she was the Princess of her day. Jon too, was very smart in his full highland dress and plaid.

Both Karen and Jon really seemed to enjoy their day at Burnhouse immensely and made the most of the time that we had for photographs. The weather, although threatened rain most of the day, was kind to us, allowing us to take most of our photographs outside. Jon and Karen, we hope we contributed to making your small intimate wedding day a truly memorable occassion.

Enjoy these 2 taster images from your day.

Sally and Richard, Glenapp Castle, July 2011

Glenapp Castle has been awarded the most romantic hotel of the year by the Scottish Hotel Awards 2011, and many other prestigous awards including Hotel of the Year. So imagine how delighted I was to photograph a wedding there for Sally and Richard on Wednesday. They had travelled all the way from Australia for a fairytale wedding, and I have to say it was spectacular. The shone shone on the best day of the year so far and the castle was just so romantic, and set in acres and acres of the most immaculate grounds. Even in bright sunlight photographing such a lovely couple in such splendid surroundings was just a pleasure. John Orr, the castle manager, and all his staff, looked after us very well and we captured some beautiful images for Sally and Richard. If you want a perfect castle setting for a truly memorable wedding, Glenapp Castle is undoubtedly a place you should seriously consider.

So busy, and so sorry for no updates

Well, since Kimberley's wedding I have been so busy that I have completely neglected my blog. Weddings are my main business, and I so love making brides happy, but there are other aspects to my photography and video business too. In the last month or so I have filmed John and Julies wedding, shot a musical production for the Johnstone Phoenix Theatre Group which was fabulous, I have video recorded an industrial incident, undertaken personal development training with other fellow photographers, did a fabulous cherish the dress session (thank you Emma, Laura and Bailey the golden retriever!), undertaken some great portrait sessions and I have had a fabulous break in the Outer Hebrides where I spent most of my time ... well ... taking photographs!

The landscapes were gorgeous and were the main subject of my photography but I took one or two of my dog Cassie as well!

When I got back from the islands I had yet more training with Trevor and Faye Yerbury, fantastic photographers with a real sense of vision and style. We spent a beautiful day on Sunday out in the country photographing our model, Lotto.

I am now getting ready for another busy spell, with some exciting venues and wedding couples in the next few weeks. Please enjoy this selection of... just for a change ... not wedding images.

Kimberley & Anthony

Kimberley and Anthony had a wonderful wedding day last month. The rain this summer has been persistant  & Friday the 13th, Kimberley and Anthonys wedding day, was no different. The rain was bucketing down on the roof of the church while I was filming, but it was a lucky day for them, because when Kimberley arrived & again when the couple left the church, the rain subsided & at one time a lovely ray of sunshine fell on the couple as they stepped outside.

Kimberley and Anthony were married in Paisley but had their reception at Oran Mor. Oran Mor is a great place for a full wedding or a reception and I just love working there.

I hope you enjoy this short highlight of Kimberley and Anthony's wedding day.

Carol and Iain: Burnhouse 27 May 2011

Carol and Iain had a fabulous day at Burnhouse, where they held their wedding and their reception.

Carol looked absolutely stunning. Her dress was floaty and fabulous and fun, just like Iain and Carol, who made a blustery spring day a pleasure to work in.  Carol looked like every princess should and Iain looked equally proud and smart in his full highland dress. They made a great couple.

As always, Burnhouse is a great venue with everything going as planned and like clockwork, so thanks to Louize and all the staff who work there.

A wonderful day, with some fantastic images, I hope you enjoye these 2 images while you wait for your collection to unfold.

Have a great honeymoon!

Caroline and Mark - The Lynnhurst Hotel

Caroline and Mark had a wonderful day at the Lynnhurst Hotel where the weather stayed dry for them to get some fabulous photographs outside with their bridal party and their guests. I was very pleased to be back photographing at the Lynnhurst so soon again, as it is a wonderful venue with so many location choices for photography.
Caroline and Mark had a lot of fun as can be seen by this great chanpagne shot. I know that I often show a champagne shot on my blog, but it is a fantastic fun shot to get and gets everybody laughing. It was great to see how Mark  popped the cork on his bottle of champagne to celebrate his and Carolines big day with impressive style, as his guests cheered him on.

Caroline and Mark, I hope the end of your day was as good as the beginning and I hope that you enjoy these 2 taster shots of your wedding day.

Kristina & Paul 30/04/11

The sun shone for Kristina & Paul on Saturday and their wedding day turned out to be just fabulous.

Paul arranged a special surprise for Kristina; a horse and carriage to take them from ViewPark Gardens to the Bothwell Bridge Hotel, where their guests and staff of the Hotel were waiting to greet them. I thought I would upload a very small clip of just a few of these special moments from their day for you to enjoy.

Kristina and Paul, I hope that you have a fantastic honeymoon and while you are waiting for your full DVD, please enjoy this 2 minute clip on to Nat King Coles "LOVE"

Stephanie - Cherish the Dress in Paisley

What a fabulous day out in Paisley with Stephanie today when she wore her dress again for us to take more stunning images of her in a different location.

Scotland is beautiful in spring time and Paisley has some striking historic locations. We were so lucky to have an opportunity to bring together a great model, warm weather and iconic venues.

We love working with brides on their wedding day, but when you come back for more images shot in a different environment, we know that we have made a connection and it allows us  to be creative and shoot images in a fun relaxing atmosphere to get the best out of you.

We believe this shows in the images that we create.

Dianne and Barry, Park Circus and the Dalmeny Park Hotel

The wedding rooms at Glasgow's 22 Park Circus are just so beautiful. They are definitely one of the more special registry office venues. I am always pleased to photograph here, and if the weather is good there is always Kelvingrove Park near by, although, I have to say, the locations for shots inside 22 Park Circus are just fabulous. It is such a shame that the city is losing this lovely facility.

We were spoilt for choice on Saturday because the weather stayed dry and and the light was good, so we got beautiful indoor and outdoor shots both at Park Circus and then back Dalmeny Park, again! Thanks again Charlie and Bill for making me welcome.

But the day belonged to Dianne and Barry, lovely people and so into wanting photographs. A pleasure to work for and no complaining about the cold, not once. Enjoy these photographs, enjoy Cancun and I look forward to sharing all your photographs when you get back.

Carolanne & David, Dalmeny Park Country House Hotel

Carolanne and David had a lovely wedding ceremony in the Drawing room at the Dalmeny Park Hotel which included a sand ceremony. A sand ceremony is where the bride and groom take turns to fill a vase with different colour sand, thereby symbolising the joining together of two people, mixing and entertwining into one, forever. Each Bride and Groom create their own pattern of sand using the colours of their choice and producing a beautiful vase of colour for display in their home and as a memory of their union and this wonderful day.

Despite the cold wind, the weather was beautiful and sun shone, so we did get some fabulous images in the extensive grounds of Dalmeny Park Hotel. Carolanne and David were such a happy couple and I didnt see them stop smiling and laughing the whole day.

Here are a few special photos from their day for you to enjoy.
